WHO IS ‘GUT MECHANIC’?
Gut Mechanic is based in the Macedon Ranges/Central Goldfields region of Victoria, Australia and is operated by ANTA-Accredited Clinical Nutritionist Rebecca Drummond (BHScNutDMed).
“I suffered from gut and digestive complaints from a young age. Over the years numerous health providers labelled this as irritable bowel syndrome, and despite the ongoing discomfort and anaemia I was experiencing, no testing was ever offered and traditional IBS treatments failed to improve my symptoms. Unhappy with my symptoms being dismissed, I decided to take matters into my own hands and enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Science. Part-way through my studies I realised my symptoms were indicative of coeliac disease. I sought out a practitioner who focused specifically on gastrointestinal disorders and underwent testing - sure enough my suspicions were confirmed! Finally, the root cause of my lifelong gut issues had been uncovered and recovery could commence!’’
After more than a decade working in the automotive/motorsport industry, Rebecca graduated from university as a Clinical Nutritionist and established her clinical practice with the aim of supporting others to manage their gut & digestive issues and improve their health and wellbeing - thus 'Gut Mechanic' was born.
Rebecca is passionate about gut health and the human microbiome (aka a ‘gut geek’) and has undertaken extensive further study in this field to enhance her clinical focus, including attaining The Microbiome Restoration Centre’s ‘Certified Healthy Gut Practitioner’ status under the tuition of Dr Jason Hawrelak.
Rebecca applies a gut-centric approach to her practice, echoing the notion that “All disease begins in the gut” (Hippocrates).
A member of the Australian Natural Therapists Association, Rebecca is excited to share her professional expertise and first-hand knowledge with others who are experiencing gastrointestinal and digestive disorders.
